Founding of EPSOS, the European Postgraduate Students Orthodontic Study Group

The idea to create a study group exclusively for graduate students was born some months before the 80th Congress of the European Orthodontic Society in Aarhus. Cesare Luzi and Guillaume Guilbert, at that time postgraduates at the University of Aarhus, were instrumental in that. Inspired by a Scandinavian model that has been working successfully for many years, it seemed exciting to extend the idea to all  postgraduate students of Europe. The idea was carried forward by the Nijmegen postgraduates during the 81st Congress of the EOS in Amsterdam, especially by Marieke Bakker (right) and Robbert Leenen (left), postgraduates in Nijmegen.

Aims are to meet annually, and share professional experiences. The meetings will be held at the EOS congresses. Clinical matters like treatment planning, treatment principles and case reports will be discussed. As we learn from each other, professional contacts and international friendships can be made. A European Postgraduate Students Orthodontic Study group is the way to make this come true! In December 2005 the website was launched at www.epsos.net.
